Sat, December 22, 2007 - 6:01 PMIt can be very difficult to sell one.
Can't get comps for it. -

Re: The Big A
Sat, December 22, 2007 - 6:06 PMThis ive heard, and also can be difficult to get financing... -

Re: The Big A
Sat, December 22, 2007 - 6:18 PMBecause you can't get comps. Which is preciesly what will make it hard to sell....
If you cannot get a lender willing to cut paper on it becasuse you can't find comps, then you can only sell to someone coming in with all cash.... That really narrows down your already slim market of prospective buyers. -

Re: The Big A
Sun, December 23, 2007 - 10:22 AMAny ideas why that would be? They seem sturdy and a natural for making lofts, I digg the few i've stayed in. The steep pitch makes them great for high snow loads. -

Mon, December 24, 2007 - 1:36 AMI lived in a 100yr old A frame in Nakusp BC. It was great, it had the fabric covered frame thingy that we would lift up(to let the hot air from the wood stove flow upstairs) at night.
I loved that place.
I lived in the attic for a bit but it was friggin cold. Met some good people had great times... -

Re: The Big A
Mon, December 24, 2007 - 3:21 PMI might have a few photos somewhere in my "mountain-O-photos" but I'm not sure.I think we took some the day we slaughtered the chickens(blood all over the snow,me dressed head to toe in yellow rain gear...it was a horror show). The place wasn't all that big.The guy who built it leveled a bit of land on the dark side of a mountain(on Brouse loop...if anyone knows Nakusp) & used the trees he cut to build the house. -

Re: The Big A
Mon, December 24, 2007 - 3:40 PMI found it on Google earth(image in gallery) That brown thing is the A frame, the square behind it is the shed & behind that is the chicken coup.
To the right is the neighbors house. -

Re: The Big A
Mon, December 24, 2007 - 3:43 PMOh wait...the long thing behind the shed might be the skateboard ramp I built(just before it snowed) but I doubt that's still there.

Re: The Big A
Sat, December 22, 2007 - 7:37 PMI've spent some time in a small one--it seemed a bit claustrophobic to me. The roof was very steeply sloped...I didn't enjoy the energy of it, though it was a good size for living in, a loft, etc.

Sat, December 22, 2007 - 8:58 PMWhen I was a kid my dad had an A Frame house. I liked it a lot. But I do remember hitting my head by accident fairly often. And he did have a harder time selling it than other houses he had before and after the A Frame.

Tue, December 25, 2007 - 8:50 PMMy chickens live in an A-frame chicken tractor, does that count?
They love it - but haven't yet figured out how to get up into the loft (where their perch and nesting boxes are.)
Chickens are not known for their intellectual acumen. -
